She is of French German Irish Scottish descent. She's of French Irish, German and Scottish heritage. Her grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. was CEO and President of the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery in Erie Pennsylvania which had been established in 1847. The brewery closed in 1978. Jacobs was a performer since age of eight and took classes on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse. Mt. Lebanon High School in 2000 Jacobs moved to New York City New York for a place at in the Juilliard School where she was an active member of Drama Division's Group 33. In 2004, she graduated with a bachelor's degree.
